Description

Equal Earth Projection: A Fairer Representation of the World

The Equal Earth projection is an equal-area map projection developed in 2018 by Bojan Šavrič, Tom Patterson and Bernhard Jenny.

It was designed to represent the Earth while preserving the true proportions of land areas, offering a visually balanced and aesthetically pleasing view of our planet.

Unlike the Mercator projection, which distorts the apparent size of continents (particularly towards the poles), the Equal Earth projection provides a more accurate representation of the world. Africa, South America and other regions near the equator are shown in their correct proportions.

Its curved, harmonious design is reminiscent of the Robinson projection, while offering greater scientific accuracy when it comes to land areas.

👉 In short: the Equal Earth projection combines geographical accuracy with modern design, offering a fairer and more realistic representation of our planet.

The Equal Earth projection is available in 4 versions:

1 – Physical: Features physical geographical details (terrain, mountains, rivers, etc.), along with the capitals and major cities of each country.

2 – Physical & Political: Combines a detailed physical map with political information, including countries, borders and capital cities.

3 – Political: Focuses on political information (countries, borders and capital cities), while also showing the main mountain ranges.

4 – Political & Ocean Floor: Displays political information and land topography, together with underwater relief, providing a comprehensive view of the continents and oceans.
